There are many learning opportunities for you and your children in Waterloo Region. Waterloo Region has two world-class universities and one of Canada's finest community colleges. You can also find quality schools for children, English language classes and International language classes.
Universities and Colleges
There are several excellent universities and colleges in Waterloo Region.
The University of Waterloo is known for its computer science, mathematics, physics and engineering programs. University of Waterloo has generated many successful companies focused on information and communications technologies.
Wilfrid Laurier University is known for its business, economics, music and social work programs.
Conestoga College has been consistently rated as one of the best colleges in Ontario. Educational programs and courses at Conestoga College reflect the demands of industry and prepare students for the future.
There are also many world respected institutes and centres in Waterloo Region that do world class research.
- Institute for Quantum Computing is a quantum information program that researches the application of quantum mechanical systems to a vast array of relevant information processing techniques
- Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics is a resident-based research institute devoted to foundational issues in theoretical physics
- Centre for International Governance Innovation is an international think tank that addresses international governance challenges through research.

Adult and Continuing Education
The universities and colleges in Waterloo Region offer programs for adults. You can get a certificate or learn more about a topic of interest. If you are planning to go to a university or college and don’t have a high school diploma or equivalency (HSE), talk to the school counsellor to see if you need an HSE. The School System and Your Child’s Education
