The Immigration Partnership Fund for Immigrant and Refugee Initiatives was established at the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation in 2017. This Endowment Fund is a signal of the welcoming community Waterloo Region strives to be, and encourages the generosity of local residents. It aims to respond to gaps in local supports to ensure the successful settling, working and belonging of all immigrants and refugees in Waterloo Region.

It is the legacy and tribute to the Immigration Partnership Council Fund for Syrian Newcomers, started in early 2016 by the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation (KWCF) and the Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation. Through this Fund local residents supported local initiatives facilitating the resettlement of Syrian refugees. Each Community Foundation established a Fund to which local residents contributed and the KWCF matched donations up to $400,000 with contributions from its own resources and fund-holders. In total, $800,850 in donations were raised and allocated to local agencies and private sponsorship groups, greatly easing the transition of Syrian families now residing in the community.
