#HireImmigrantsWR encourages local employers to hire immigrant and refugee talent. In its first phase, #HireImmigrantsWR features immigrants and refugees now living in Waterloo Region communities. Throughout 2018, the profiles of immigrants and refugees from Brazil, Syria, Vietnam, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Haiti, Eritrea, Egypt and the Philippines who are now living in Waterloo Region were shared. They are all ready to work and contribute their skills and talents, and there are many others like them. Click on the photos below to learn about the variety of hard and soft skills immigrants and refugees can contribute to local businesses.
In its second phase, #HireImmigrantsWR will feature Waterloo Region employers who have strengthened their business by hiring immigrants and refugees. Throughout 2018, employers from the local manufacturing, community service, tech and financial industries will share their experience of hiring immigrants and refugees to encourage other employers to do the same.
The #HireImmigrantsWR campaign ran throughout 2018, featuring CTV commercial ads, advertisements on bus shelters, posters shared online and in public places throughout Waterloo Region, extensive promotion on social media and the in-person engagement of campaign ambassadors. Funding for the campaign was provided by Immigrants, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
