Waterloo Region Migration Film Festival
Each year, the Waterloo Region Migration Film Festival (WRMFF) shares films that explore the journeys, challenges, and contributions of migrants and newcomers. The festival is hosted in collaboration with community organizations, schools, workplaces, and faith groups across the region.
More details for 2026 will be shared soon.
Why it matters
Canada is built on stories of migration. People from around the world come here to build new lives, bringing their cultures, skills, and experiences.
Through film and storytelling, WRMFF creates space for reflection, dialogue, and connection. The festival invites everyone to learn, share, and engage in conversations that strengthen a sense of belonging in our communities.
Get involved
You can take part in the next edition of the festival by:
- Hosting a screening in your community
- Attending a screening near you
- Sharing the festival with your networks
Hosting a screening includes providing a space (in-person or virtual), promoting the event (with our support), and facilitating a post-film discussion. Our team will guide you through the process and support you along the way.
