We lead targeted engagement efforts that create opportunities for immigrant and community service partners to connect with system and sector leaders, supporting more responsive services and improving settlement experiences for newcomers across Waterloo Region.

Migrant Worker Appreciation Day
Launched in 2025, this event raises awareness and celebrates the contributions of international agri-food and other migrant workers in our region.

Newcomer Landlord Award
Supportive landlords play a critical role in helping immigrants access safe and stable housing during their settlement journey.
Launched in 2016 during Canada’s Syrian Refugee Resettlement Initiative, this award recognizes landlords who go above and beyond to welcome newcomers and support their housing needs in Waterloo Region. Recipients are honoured at the Regional Housing Day celebration each November.

2025 Newcomer Landlord Award
In 2025, we marked the 10th anniversary of the Newcomer Landlord Award as part of National Housing Day ceremony hosted by the Region of Waterloo, recognizing landlords who support newcomer settlement by providing safe and welcoming housing in Waterloo Region.
