Workplace & Immigrant Network (WIN)
This regional talent hub connects skilled newcomers with employers. WIN offers learning workshops, networking, and workplace integration support to help newcomers gain experience and employers access global talent.
Developed by the Work Steering Group, the Workforce Planning Board launched WIN in 2023 with seed funding from the Immigration Partnership as a response to overwhelming employer demand for a local, one-stop hub of employment support.

Work Experience Pilot
This paid work experience program provides newcomers with hands-on skills, workplace confidence, and connections to local employers. Developed by the Work Steering Group in response to industry needs brought forward by the Grand Valley Construction Association, this initiative supports workforce inclusion while strengthening the local economy. Following an extensive search, the Waterloo Region Food Bank launched this program in 2025 with seed funding from the Region of Waterloo.
The program provides participants practical skill development, confidence, hands-on work experience in a supportive environment, and connection to local employers.

Welcoming Agri-Food Workers Project
This project raises awareness of the economic contributions of international agri-food workers and supports area employers in creating welcoming workplaces for these employees. With funding from the Province of Ontario and working with Waterloo Wellington Community Futures, this project will curate resources and learning opportunities for local agri-food employers.
